Strong to Severe Thunderstorms

An Enhanced Risk for severe weather has been issued for portions of Illinois, Iowa, Southern Wisconsin in Orange.

Slight Risk for portions of the high plains in Yellow.

Marginal Risk for locations in dark Green.



Eastern Iowa, and Northern Illinois has a 10% chance for a tornado within 25 miles of a given location.

Flash Flood Watch, Thunderstorms, Tropical Storm Arthur


Flash Flood Watch 


Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected this afternoon and evening. Some of the storms may be strong to possible severe mainly across Western portions of Kentucky. Storms may produce heavy rain, lightning, and some hail.



The National Weather Service in Louisville has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of Indiana and Kentucky, including the following areas, in Indiana, Clark, Floyd, Harrison, Jefferson, Scott, and Washington. In Kentucky, Anderson, Bourbon, Boyle, Bullitt, Casey, Clark, Fayette, Franklin, Garrard, Harrison, Henry, Jefferson, Jessamine, Lincoln, Madison, Marion, Mercer, Nelson, Nicholas, Oldham, Scott, Shelby, Spencer, Trimble, Washington, and Woodford.

* From Monday morning through Tuesday evening

* Showers and thunderstorms with heavy rainfall will be possible from Monday through Tuesday evening. Rainfall accumulations of 1 to 3 inches will be possible, with isolated areas of up to 4 inches being possible. This heavy rainfall may lead to flash flooding in some locations.

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

Thunderstorms, A Few Strong to Severe Today

The Storm Prediction Center has placed most of Kentucky in a Marginal Risk in green and a Slight risk in yellow for strong to possibly severe thunderstorms today. Heavy rain, lightning, and gusty winds are the main hazards.
