A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for portions of Central and Eastern Kentucky.



* WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 3 inches with localized higher amounts possible.

* WHERE...Portions of southeastern Indiana and central Kentucky.

* WHEN...From 7 PM EST /6 PM CST/ this evening to 7 PM EST /6 PM CST/ Monday.

* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions developing overnight. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning commute.

Winter Weather Advisory, Flood Warning.

Flood Warning: The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Kentucky...

Rolling Fork River near Boston affecting Hardin and Nelson Counties.
.Heavy rain from Monday has caused the river to rise.
The Flood Warning continues for the Rolling Fork River near Boston.
* Until late Wednesday night.
* At 10:30 PM EST Tuesday the stage was 35.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 35.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 10:30 PM EST Tuesday was 35.1 feet.
* Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 35.6 feet tomorrow morning. It will then fall below flood stage late tomorrow evening.
* Impact...At 35.0 feet, Agricultural bottomland is covered.
* Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 37.3 feet on 02/22/2019.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

Slight risk for severe weather Today

There is a slight chance for severe weather across portions of Kentucky this afternoon and evening. Moderate to heavy rain at times will continue throughout the day. Rainfall totals up to 3 inches in some locations are possible.

Freezing Rain Sunday Morning

 Special Weather Statement


Freezing rain may result in a light glaze of ice tomorrow morning over southern Indiana and north-central Kentucky. Freezing rain amounts up to a tenth of an inch are possible in southern Indiana, while amounts in northern Kentucky should be 0.05 inches or less. This glaze may result in hazardous driving conditions. 

A glaze can quickly form on elevated surfaces, but sidewalks and driveways may also become slick.


If you plan on driving tomorrow morning, be prepared for slick spots on untreated roadways. Temperatures are expected to warm above freezing by late morning.

Winter Weather Advisory This Evening Into Saturday Morning...

.Scattered to numerous snow showers are expected later this evening, lasting through the overnight, and tapering Saturday morning. Light accumulations between a half inch and 1 inch are expected in many locations and could cause some slick spots on untreated roadways. Isolated instances of amounts up to 2 inches can't be ruled out for spots that see the most intense and repeated snow showers.

* WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of up to one inch. Localized amounts near 2 inches possible for some.

* WHERE...Portions of east central and south central Kentucky.

* WHEN...From 9 PM EST /8 PM CST/ this evening to 1 PM EST /noon CST/ Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery conditions for untreated roads.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Isolated snow showers are possible earlier in the afternoon and could cause brief accumulations and reduced visibilities.
