The Storm Prediction Center has issued a Marginal Risk for all of Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, and many other states in the plains and Dixie Alley. A Slight Risk for portions of the NE US. Strong to severe thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon and evening.

A non zero tornado threat, but low at a 2 percent chance in green for a isolated brief tornado while storms are in singular mode before converging. There is a 5 percent chance in brown to the Northeast.

Damaging winds are also possible with these storms this afternoon and will be the main threat. Low 5% chance in brown 15% in yellow in the Northeasten United States.

Large hail is also possible with the strongest storms, 5% brown and 15% in yellow.

Here is a single image of the HRRR Model run from pivotal weather. This is an idea of how storms may evolve later today.

As with all storms, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Please check radar and your local forecasts before going to the beach, lake, creek, or swimming pool. Lightning kills, seek shelter indoors if you hear thunder.
