Update Flash Flood Warning Central KY, Bardstown Flood

 Flash Flood Warning






At 950 AM EDT, local law enforcement reported thunderstorms producing heavy rain and flash flooding across the warned area. Several flooded roadways have been reported in Bardstown this morning, and water has approached some residences in town. Water rescues have also been performed in Bardstown. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have fallen, with the highest totals generally in Nelson County. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area, which will only worsen ongoing flooding.

HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding.

SOURCE...Law enforcement reported.

IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Bardstown, New Haven, Greenbrier, Botland, East Bardstown, Withrow, Samuels Field Airport, Balltown, Manton and Bourbon Springs.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.





 
A Marginal Risk for severe weather is in place as strong storms move through this morning. Additional strong to severe thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon and evening ahead of an approaching cold front.
