* WHAT...Mixed precipitation expected. Across portions of southern Indiana and north-central Kentucky, snow and sleet accumulations of up to one inch will be possible. Across portions of central and south-central Kentucky, ice accumulations of one tenth to two tenths of an inch will be possible.

* WHERE...Portions of and southern Indiana and central Kentucky.

* WHEN...From 7 PM EST /6 PM CST/ this evening to 1 PM EST /noon CST/ Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning commute.

An ice storm warning is in effect for portions of Arkansas, Tennessee, and Mississippi. Power outages are possible in this area with dangerous driving conditions.

* WHAT...Wintry mix of snow and some light freezing rain. Snow accumulations of a coating up to three quarters of an inch.

* WHERE...Portions of and south central Indiana and east central, north central and south central Kentucky.

* WHEN...Until 7 AM EST /6 AM CST/ Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Slick spots on roads are likely overnight.

Strong to Severe Thunderstorms Possible Today. Aftermath.

 1/13/23

There were 45 preliminary Tornado Reports from yesterday's Severe weather in the Ohio Valley and Dixie Alley.

For My Area: There were 3 confirmed EF-1 Tornadoes that touched down in Northeastern Kentucky. 

* Mercer County - 100 mph max wind

* Boyle County - 95 mph max wind

* Henry County - 110 mph max wind

Destructive tornadoes brokeout in Alabama and Georgia, some of which were multi-vortex.

A line of strong to severe thunderstorms are approaching Central Kentucky. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued as a couple rounds of strong to severe storms are possible Today. This Watch is in effect until 1:00 PM Eastern Standard Time.


A Slight Risk includes a good portion of Kentucky with higher probabilities for severe weather to our south in the Enhanced Risk area with a 10% tornado threat.

Severe Weather Threat Continues

Severe weather with flash flooding moved through the area overnight in Central Kentucky. Multiple Flash Flood Warnings, Severe Thunderstorm, and Tornado Warnings were issued. A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 11:00 am cst / 12:00 am est.


The Storm Prediction Center has an Enhanced Risk to our South in portions of Mississippi, Louisiana, and Alabama along with a 10% hatched significant tornado threat. There is a 5% tornado threat in the Slight Risk Area that includes Central Kentucky.

There is a threat for additional showers and thunderstorms later today with highs near 70°. I will be watching to see how the atmosphere recovers from overnight rain/storms. That will be a factor in how strong any additional storms will be across Kentucky later today.
